How does Roadtrippers calculate estimated cost?
You’ll see an Estimated Cost and an Estimated Fuel in your trip details. The Estimated Cost is a total of our fuel cost estimate plus any budgets you’ve added to waypoints in your trip.
The Estimated Fuel Cost is just our fuel estimate. The gas price is automatically set to the US monthly average. We check the average price weekly and use that along with your MPG and fuel type settings to provide an estimate for your trip. If the fuel estimate seems off, you can if this estimate seems off, you can click the pencil icon to the right of this field to view or update your fuel type and fuel economy settings.
