The estimated fuel cost is calculated based off the US monthly average. Roadtrippers uses that along with your MPG and fuel type settings to provide an estimate for your trip. If you haven’t edited the fuel settings for your trip, then it’s using a default of 22 MPG.

It looks like 22 MPG and the current average price of $3.125 for regular gas on a 790-mile trip does come out to right about $112.
