Medicine Wheel Passage (HWY 14A) in an RV?

Hello! First time renting an RV and heading to Yellowstone. Does anyone have any guidance on taking Highway 14A through Bighorn Mountain in a 25-foot RV? While I don’t have much concern about driving the RV, I’m not sure if this stretch of highway would be too challenging.

Thanks

Hi! Love to hear you’ll be hitting the road in an RV for the first time!

As a long-time RVer, I would recommend avoiding 14A. While a 25foot rig should be relatively easy to navigate most places, the steep grades on 14A will be precarious for many RVs braking systems, and engines on a warm day. The USFS advises against RVs using this route as well: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/bighorn/recreation/scenicdrivinginfo/?cid=stelprd3812567

Thank you!
