Lincoln Highway through Iowa and Nebraska

We’re planning a road trip along the Lincoln Highway (US Route 30) from the western suburbs of Chicago to (hopefully) the west side of Nebraska, in mid-late July. I’ve started a Roadtrippers itinerary but would like more interesting places to add to the trip, including hotels, B&Bs, restaurants, etc. We like quirky roadside attractions, brewpubs and yarn stores. If you’ve done this trip, what were your highlights?

Just off of Hwy 30 in Montour, IA is Rubes Steakhouse.
La Carreta Mexican in Marshalltown is another good stop…The Flying Elbow is a great burger place with WWF themed burger.
LaFinquita Cafe is near Twin Anchors Camp Ground…near Colo, IA and have good reviews (we haven’t been there).
Hickory Place Bbq in Ames is a good spot.
In Boone, IA there’s the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & James H. Andrew Railroad Museum to check out.

Thanks, FlashBack. I’ll add those to my trip itinerary.
