Where to stay and what to do in New Orleans

I am planning on driving from Destin FL to New Orleans. Any suggestions on where to stay and what to do?

What type of things are you into? When will you be there? How are you traveling (car/RV)? What’s your budget?

Hello. I traveled to New Orleans at Christmas and stayed at the St. Bernard State campground south of the city. I appreciated the layout of the campground with the generous and well-placed RV spaces. The bathrooms were cleaned daily, although they are a bit tired. Also, they had a wasp problem in the women’s bathroom, so if you don’t have a bathroom in your rig, you should ask about the issue when making a reservation.

As far as the city, the highlight for me was the spectacular WWII museum. You should spend a day there. I took a break and enjoyed lunch in the museum cafe. Note that the museum consists of a few buildings, so spend some time looking at their website and recommended itineraries before going.

I spent time walking through the French Quarter and surrounding area, and then I drove through the Garden District.

Enjoy!

I agree about seeing the WW II Museum; plan for 2 days if you like the venue. See the evening show and the Tom Hanks movie about WW II.

We stayed 3 nights at the French Quarter RV Resort right downtown! Very secure and more upscale than most RV parks or campgrounds across the country. Took 2 people via Uber to and from the Museum for about $11-12 total without tip; depends upon traffic/time of day. Museum is less than 2 miles away.
